Since this review was made I have since got myself a pair and got on well with them. Very different to the Salomon Speedcross I'm used too which isn't a bad thing. I've tended to use them on more trail runs and races, as the flat sole pattern seems less susceptible to being worn then the Speedcross and feels more comfortable on hard ground.

I've noticed a big difference on snow and ice too which was surprising. Dan has gone through 2 pairs since and they have not lasted as long as some of his more aggressive shoes.

Prasad Prasad has also bought a pair from us and said nice for training runs and harder trail but still very much prefers the grippier Fellcross (which we stock) on the harder races.

But, La Sportiva have discontinued this shoe so grap them whilst you can! http://killinoutdoor.co.uk/online/sportiva-crosslite-p-144.html.

There is still some snow on the Eastern Aspects but it is patchy. Hopefully with this drop in temperature there will be a bit more snow build up. However, don't think it will be skiable till at least Sunday. Check back over the weekend :)

Please note, that the road leading from the A827 to the Ben Lawers NNR is currently closed due to fallen trees. At this moment in time there is no date for when it will re-open but tree removal is in progress.
There is a path opposite the Loch Tay Highland Lodges that can be used as an alternative to the road. The road is walkable, however with some major detours.

It would be interesting to see a comparison with AAA NiMH rechargeables. No-one I know still uses alkaline batteries in their headtorches. Also, presumably it isn't the battery that is doing anything special to control the light output you want... the torch is just using current regulation to maintain a constant output?
